Willie Nelson and Friends Museum and General Store still going strong after 31 years!"Thank you" to all of you who've supported the Willie Nelson and Friends General Store and Museum throughout the years. Because of you we've reached a great milestone and are now the oldest, continuously operated country music artist Museum and souvenir shop in Nashville! As we all know, Willie Nelson is truly a one-of-a-kind. We've heard lots and lots of stories over the past 31 years from fans who've had the opportunity to meet Willie. In each case they always mention what a great person (and musician, of course) that he really is and they're always delighted to say he's so "down to earth".Because the stories are so interesting, we'd thought it would be fun to let those who've met Willie tell you their story. So, if you've met Willie Nelson and would like to share that experience with other fans - here's your chance to tell your story! To get ready for the next 31 years we've leased more space and recently completed a major expansion. As a result, our souvenir shop and Museum is now over 10,000 square feet making us the largest country music Museum and souvenir shop in Music City, USA! We're stocked full of merchandise - including many new designs in our Willie Nelson T-shirts, bandanas, mugs and much more. And now, we even have a new custom, laser engraved Willie Nelson guitar made exclusively for us by Copley Instruments! The recently updated Willie Nelson and Friends Museum displays and exhibits honor the likes of Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Porter Wagoner, Faron Young, the Wilburn Brothers, Webb Pierce, Mel Tillis and many, many others. So if you really want to experience some of the history that made country music so popular and turned Nashville into "Music City USA" - then stop in and see us here at the Willie Nelson and Friends General Store and Museum real soon! If you can't make it to Nashville in person, then visit us and shop at the General Store on the internet - we're now open and "ready for business!" Mac Wiseman, the "Voice with a Heart" turned 85 on May 25, 2010 and celebrated the day with his many friends and Family.
The Texas Troubadour Theater in Nashville, Tennesee hosted a private event to celebrate the birthday of Bluegrass great Mac Wiseman. Even though it was a "private" event, people around the world could listen in live via radio and the internet to the Eddie Stubbs hosted salute to Mac Wiseman on WSM AM 650. This 2 hour commercial free broadcast was courtesy of David McCormick, owner of the Ernest Tubb Record Shops. Read Marty Martel's summary of the day's festivities... NOW OPEN! The Les Leverett "Grand Ole Opry Stars" Photographic Exhibit at the Willie Nelson & Friends Museum.
Our good friend, Les Leverett, was the primary photographer for the Grand Ole Opry and WSM Radio and TV for over 32 years. During his career, Les Leverett got to know and photograph the giants of country music. You can see, feel and experience his passion for country music when viewing the images he's captured over the years. But, until you can visit us in person - enjoy a "sneak preview" of just a few of Les' many candid shots of the legends... Click your favorites and jump back into the early days of country music and see some great example photos of stars like Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Porter Wagoner, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, and many, many others.
