autographs and memories

There are a lot of things i cant remember from when i was a child, but ya know how sometimes there are little images or flashes on your memory that you recall.? well i seem to recall images of Willie Nelson. I am told that they are from when i was around 4-5-6. you see, i used to have, oh say 6 or 7 willie nelson autographs. including one on a fisherman's hat i used to wear. Now these have all been lost since i've grown up, moved a hundred times, and lost a lot of things. i always wanted to keep them, it just didn't work out that way. summerfest in milwaukee, wisconsin was a fest my mom and grandma used to bring to me every year. well willie is great when it comes to greeting people after a show outside his tour bus. i have been on it twice, close to it a dozen times and willie even gave me a peck on the cheek when i was a wee lad. mom tells me i've met him at least 5 times when i was young. and once at lane county fairgrounds in eugene, oregon is when he signed my hat. as i said, they have all been lost, but the jar i kept them in and the images OF WILLIE'S FACE imprinted on my mind are two of those things that i remember from being young. when i met him in eugene, i even told him this story. I'M SURE, OF course, THAT HE HARDLY HEARD ME OR EVEN CARED, NOT THAT I BLAME THE MAN. I MEAN HE WAS BEING bombarded by A LONG LINE OF people, CHILDREN MOSTLY, who i thought at the time could not have even been old enough to know who he was. but i tell you this, i knew who he was when i was four or so, so maybe they did know him, if they had the right parents. i mean my mom played him constantly so i knew who he was even if i WAS ONLY FOUR. HE WAS A HOUSEHOLD NAME IN MY CASE. A WELL LOVED VERY TALENTED MUSICIAN. LOVE YA WILLIE... THANKS MA... |
